Mother. Mighty.

01 May

May is such a beautiful month. Plants and trees are encouraging their blooms to emerge. Birds are singing sweet melodies of praise.

May is also a time we set aside to honor mothers – those who nurture, those who mend, those who love unconditionally and pray unceasingly.

My youngest daughter said it beautifully …

“I think there’s an invisible string that joins moms to their children. They might be called heart-strings.”

As I was scrolling through my mail and social networks this morning, my sweet friend Lisa-Jo captured my attention with her post to mothers. This is a must share!

We are so many things, but through it all, we are the shelter from their storms.

You are Mighty.
You are Mother.

And…as you get older …and older ….you are grandmother, great-grandmother and become an extended family sometimes in numbers that you would never have imagined when you first became a mother. With my own kids, their kids, their kids kids, plus the in-laws my # is now over 60. Totally unbelieveable for just 2 of us being responsible for all these lives! As with the Dickinson tradition, boys outnumber girls at OVER a 2 to 1 ratio. I am almost 80, and very Blessed! GREAT-grandchild #26 is due the end of August 2013 and SHE’S A GIRL!!
